When you think about Draupadi, you only think of Pandavas,Cheer haran or her vengeance..., but #Suhas Bhatnagar (the writer & director) has an eye for seeing the unseen.

#Druapadi, the theatrical Dance Production of #Kahaniwala, was nothing else but lesser known stories of Draupadi's life woven beautifully in an impressive narrative.

The three K's in Draupadi's life..., Krishna, Kunti & Karna were well presented during #Nritya #Theater Weekend .

The friendship of Krishna & Draupadi, the compromising life of Karna and the pain of Kunti were well choreographed by #Sravya Manasa. Music by Pravin Krishnamurthy and live singing by Kiran & Sravathi added on to the impact. Ravi Kumar's magical voice during opening narration reminded of "Harish Bhimani ji - the mai samay hoon... fame"

Sravya as Draupadi

There were two heroes in the play; one was the VISUAL and the other was the NARRATION.

Visuals were well presented through dance, lights, make up & costumes but the narration was the one that put life into not just the visuals but also the writings.

Shaurya's voice over for Draupadi was brilliant. Draupadi's expressions were getting more impressive with the impressive narration. Rajeev's narration was very good but the voice was not befitting the character of Karna.

Sravya as Draupadi was larger than life. Surprise element was Neelima as Kunti. As it was a dance drama the male characters were short of expectations. the crispness in body language was missing. The praja was disappointing. Seems it was a last minute add on and all backstage was asked to walk across. In a periodic costume drama, walking down in jeans and uncoordinated clothing & modern haircut is unacceptable.

One suggestion for the Director: You do not need a support cast to depict the praja, in the end. Sravya could have enacted that scene with her powerful choreography on her own.

Few lines that MUST be mentioned ," ...chhat jo vaastav mein aundhi leti hui ek deewar hi hai...." and "tu akaash ki ore munh kar ke so kyon nahin jaati? Shaayad saahas hi nahin hai usme..., aasman se aankh milane ka?"

The writing is amazing and the choreography nailed it. Deserves a standing ovation.

Neelima as Kunti & Nitesh as Karna

Something about the reviewer: #Capt Ahmed is a branding professional. He is actively involved in Theater & Films as an actor. Poetry & street plays comes naturally to him.
