Banerjee Babu's innocence steals the show

Ever been deprived of love? Meet Banerjee Babu and you will find that you have so much of love around you and you do not even bother about it.

Mujhe ek Hug chahiye..." that's the only ask the protagonist has, in #Kissago's Banerjee Babu.

...and he is cheated even for that, till he meets Aparna Saxena who has just discovered that she can not become mother and her husband is against adoption. Emotionally drained out, she mistakes the child-like actions of Banerjee babu as eve teasing. But slowly realizes that he is an orphan who has grown physically but is still a child inside. Despite her irritation, he innocently keeps talking to her. She gets emotional listening to his story and the way he is duped in life. Her void of being a mother and the innocence of Banerjee Babu gets him the first Hug of his life.

Performed during #Nritya Theater Weekend, the play was written by Avinash Matta and directed by #Jay Jha. The complete life story of Banerjee babu was crisply packaged in an approximate 40 minutes play. His mother Ananda Banerjee and Sister Rachael were smartly made a part of the story line.

#Shailja Chaturvedi made a good impact. The wait for the bus, trying to stop an auto and simultaneously carrying the expressions of irritation, pain & realization, were well enacted. #Nishchay as one of the children, also made an impact; especially when he realizes that his duping is being sensed by someone and he says, "Sorry Aunty".

#Srihari Ajith as Banerjee babu stole the audience's heart. Barring one or two instances during longer dialogues he held the innocence, the stammer, the body language (especially the fingers)..., #Banarjee Babu was indeed brought to life by Srihari. Deserves a clap.
